Three Girls Fight for Their Park

Into What Good Night?

Man in red shirt and hat by marina with boats, text overlayed.

This is my first and so far only non-fiction book. It tells the story of me growing up in the Fifties and Sixties. Playing baseball in the park, playing 'guns' sledding through the woods and July 4th parades. Then teenage years and young adulthood in the hippy land of California. It is a fun story of a Boomer growing up.

About the Author

Ken Schwartz is a writer, journalist, and former English teacher whose work is shaped by a lifelong engagement with language, storytelling, and place.

He began his writing career on his college newspaper, where he served as sports editor and later editor-in-chief, before going on to work as a newspaper reporter. His reporting covered a wide range of subjects, from girls’ volleyball to a murder trial—experiences that inform the journalistic precision and attention to detail found in his fiction. He later taught English as a Second Language, developing a deep respect for how stories work across cultures and for the quiet power of clear, well-chosen words.

Schwartz is the author of novels and nonfiction that range from Regency-era speculative fiction (A Time for a Lady, A Place for a Lady) to contemporary literary fiction (Finding Abigail, Bravo’s Call, A Garage Band’s Journey) and memoir (Into What Good Night). His most recent work, Three Girls Fight for Their Park  is his first Young Adult book. It is Book 1 of the Mill Hollow Girls series.

Ken earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Santa Clara University.
